ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the relationship between ADAM 33 polymorphisms and susceptibility of asthma of Chinese in Qingdao. Methods: The polymorphism of ADAM33 gene, they were rs2280090, rs487377 and rs2787094, were detected with SnaPshot method. Results: There was no significant difference between asthma group and control group in genotypic frequencies. Conclusion:The study shows that the rs 2280090 , rs487377 and rs2787094 were not associated with susceptibility of asthma in Han nationality in Qingdao .

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To assess the association of polymorphisms of TNF-alpha gene (rs1799724, rs1800630, rs1799964 and rs769178) and IL-13 gene (rs2158177 and rs1295687) with susceptibility to asthma among ethnic Chinese in Qingdao region. METHODS For 400 asthma patients and 200 healthy subjects, above polymorphisms were detected with a SNaPshot method. RESULTS For rs2158177, the frequency of genotype of GG in the asthma group was significantly lower than the control group (2.8% vs. 5%, OR = 0.31, 95%CI: 0.12-0.82, P = 0.021). No significant difference was detected in the genotypic frequencies for the remaining 5 polymorphisms between the two groups (All P > 0.05). CONCLUSION The study has indicated that rs2158177 polymorphism of the IL-13 gene is associated with asthma in ethnic Han Chinese from Qingdao. No association has been found between polymorphisms of TNF-alpha gene with susceptibility to asthma.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo assess the association of polymorphisms of IL-4 gene (rs2243250, rs2243283) and IL-4R gene (rs1805012, rs1801275, rs1805010) with susceptibility to asthma among ethnic Chinese in Qingdao.

METHODSFor 400 asthma patients and 200 healthy subjects, above polymorphisms were detected with SnaPshot method.

RESULTSFor rs1805012, the frequency of TC genotype in the asthma group was significantly lower than the control group (8.8% vs. 15.5%, χ (2)= 6.498, P= 0.039), and so were the frequencies of TC+ CC genotypes (9.0% vs. 15.5%, χ (2) = 5.522, P= 0.019) and the C allele (4.6% vs. 7.7%, χ (2) = 4.729, P= 0.039). No significant difference was detected between the two groups in the frequency of the remaining four polymorphisms or the haplotypes formed by rs2243250 and rs2243283 (All P> 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThis study has indicated that rs1805012 polymorphism of IL-4R gene is associated with asthma in ethnic Han Chinese from Qingdao region. TC+ CC genotypes have a protective role against asthma compared with TT genotype. However, polymorphisms of IL-4 gene are not associated with susceptibility to asthma.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The effectiveness and safety of traditional Chinese medicine treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have been preliminarily approved by clinical practices.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Gubenkeli capsule on the protein expression of matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase1 (TIMP-1) in lung tissue of COPD model rats.METHODS: A total of 50 Wistar rats were randomly divided into five groups with 10 rats in each group: normal control, model, prednisone, Gubenkeli capsule-low dose, and Gubenkeli capsule-high dose. COPD rat models were established in all rats with the exception of the normal control rats by smoking and intratracheal instillation of LPS. At 29 days after COPD induction, rats from the prednisone, Gubenkeli capsule-low dose, Gubenkeli capsule-high dose groups were intragastrically administered prednisone (1.04 mg/kg per day), Gubenkeli capsule (0.4, 0.94 g/kg per day), once a day, to observer rat general conditions. Protein expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in the lung tissue was detected by immunohistochemical methods. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Protein expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in the lung tissue of COPD rats was significantly increased (P < 0.05). After drug intervention, the general conditions of COPD rats were greatly improved, and protein expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in the lung tissue was decreased. Prednisone yields the strongest effects, followed by high-dose Gubenkeli capsule and low-dose Gubenkeli capsule. These findings demonstrate that Gubenkeli capsule alleviates the clinical manifestations of COPD model rats, improve airway remodeling, and correct the imbalance between prolease and antiprotease in a dose-response manner.

ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the correlation of the form stigmata of maximus thenar dermatoglyphic patterns of palm and allergic dermatitis. Methods The allergic dermatitis patients were rardanly selected as observation group and normal person or non-suffering allergic dermatitis as control group. The maximus thenar dermatoglyphic patterns of palm were classified into three grades on the basis of its tend towards, distance, depth and character of cleavage lines, and the degree of moistening, dryness, softness, smoothness of surface skin, etc. Results There are 82 examples in observation group, grade Ⅰ is 11 examples, degree Ⅰ of grade Ⅱ is 17 examples, degree Ⅱ of grade Ⅱ is 31 examples, grade Ⅲ is 23 examples. There are 86 examples in control group, grade Ⅰ is 71 examples, degree Ⅰ of grade Ⅱ is 5 examples, degree Ⅱ of grade Ⅱ is 6 examples, grade Ⅲ is 4 examples. There is significant difference between the observation group and control group (P
